Wills
An estate plan will protect your future, as well as the future of your loved ones. Many people do not prepare an estate plan because they mistakenly believe it is too costly or time consuming. At McElroy & Durham, PC, we strive to keep the costs affordable and practical in order to meet your specific needs. Sometimes, this may involve more than just preparation of a simple will. We work with our clients to find the right combination of wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives, and other documents that are right for you whether your estate is small, large or complex.
Fee Structure
We generally handle estate planning on a flat fee basis. We offer bundled services that are based on the level of estate planning specific to your needs. The fee is due in advance. Our bundled services include a one hour consultation with the client and as many in office or telephone consultations necessary to finalize the documents. Fees for creating a trust includes up to two hours of time for funding the trust. Any time beyond the two hours will be billed at our hourly rates. If your matter is complex or requires services outside of those listed below, we will discuss with you whether we will handle your case on an hourly basis instead.
Package #1: Preparation of a Will only. Flat fee of $500 per person or $750 per couple.
Package #2: Preparation of a Will, Durable Power of Attorney* and an Advance Directive** Flat fee of $750 per person, or $1200 per couple.
Package #3: This package will help clients avoid probate or is used in complicated estates. Includes the preparation of a Wil, Durable Power of Attorney, Revocable Living Trust and Advance Directive. Flat fee of $1500 per person or $2500 per couple.
*Durable Power of Attorney: Appoints a person to make financial decisions for you in the event you are incapacitated.
**Advance Directive: Appoints a person to make health care decisions for you in the event you are incapacitated.
